With the new Five Nights at Freddy's movie coming out next month, I figured this would be a good time to recommend my single Running Away. It was inspired by the third game, as the lyrics are written from the perspective of William Afton (aka Spring Trap) who is the villain of the series.
Though this song didn't get much attention when I released it, I believe it stands out as one of the best songs of my early years. Over the prior two years, I had been carving out a musical style that was influenced by EDM, but not quite an EDM genre. Other examples of this are my songs Venus and Harrison. Running Away felt like a perfection of that genre. As someone who played drums in school, I loved the sound of acoustic drums, which I made use of. I also could fully lean into the robotic voice sounds as the character was an old animatronic. The song was challenging, but I had a lot of fun producing it.
